Yama-Warawa or more commonly known as Yama-Waro (山童 Yama-Warawa, lit. Mountain child) in the series is a yōkai.

Saishinban GeGeGe no Kitarō[]

He appears in episode #20. When Kani-Bōzu was about to be hunted by Yama-Waro, Kitarō saved the former.

1985 Anime[]

He appears in the fourth movie based on the third anime adaptation, GeGeGe no Kitarō: Gekitotsu!! Ijigen Yōkai no Dai-Hanran!!.[1] He and Kasha were knocked out by Yumeko Tendō and Neko-Musume with golf clubs.

1996 Anime[]

2018 Anime[]

He is first spotted in the 34th episode of the sixth anime adaptation, Emperor Backbeard.[2] He again appears in episode #48 The Void of Despair and Darkness.

Yamawaro is a type of kappa widely distributed among middle to western Japan. Yamawaro's original kanji was 山𤢖, and it was from Chinese mythology.
