Kasha (火車, fire cat) is a cat-like yokai.
Kasha is a large anthropomorphic cat-like yōkai, with red fur and a yellow underside. He has a purple hair around his head, forming a sideburn and beard, bushy eyebrows over his yellow eyes, and very sharp teeth. His long purple tail ends in a constantly burning fire, which he uses in his attacks.
Kasha is a brash individual, being easily angered and very loud. He tends to be very emotional.
He appears in the fourth movie based on the third anime adaptation, GeGeGe no Kitarō: Gekitotsu!! Ijigen Yōkai no Dai-Hanran!!.
Kasha appears in episode #90 of the fifth anime adaption, A Large Runaway on New Year! Kitarō and Kasha. He's one of the chosen 47 Yōkai Warriors and the representative of Shimane. His mark is located on his chest.
The Kasha of legend is a cannibalistic, cat-like spirit entity which is found near crematoriums and tries to feed off human corpses. In order to ward off the kasha, Japanese families make loud noises on bells, gongs and drums to maintain a vigil over the bodies of the departed ones. In many cases their true identity of the kasha is actually a Neko-Mata, and it is also said that cats that grow old would turn into that yōkai.
